We've also an entire 2nd room with my office/craftroom. Where I plan, draw, build and create for the children. With shelves of toys that rotate into the main playroom, as well as five shelves of games that teach and reinforce preschool concepts & beyond. My own "funducational" games - teach without a "lesson" but through fun - match games with a twist - that incorporate seasons, numbers or alphabet; some are all about pairing opposites, before & afters; others work as a board game with letter ID & sounds, sight words, etc. Others use speed and pattern recognition. Each has an element of silly & fun along with concepts of consequence.
All of our games have an elements of intelligence & skill-building in mind. From games like Hi-Ho-Cheerio for counting and subtracting, to Rat-a-Tat-Cat for numbers recognition and strategy, to my own seasonal match and sequence games & our extensive collection of blocks : wood, magnetic, light & color, bristle, castle and Wedgets. Plus building toys such as TinkerToys, Lincoln Logs, SMARTMAX magnet cars, magnet wall, loose parts and train sets. There is nothing like building for creativity, problem solving, cause & effect, teamwork and pride....
Learning isn't a worksheet... here it is a process fueled by curiosity & fun!
